On Sunny Day, Me (Daisy May) n da Special Kitten Unit wints 2 our frind Mike's house 2 waits on dehr noo detective misshunz. Dey lurned about hallways and dat carpet tiles are not alien creeturhz efn if dey flops up frum da floor and curtainz iz nots fur climbin...

Harlee was da furst ta goh... hur wints on a Furry Bureau uf Investigashun mission to purrtekt a nise lady in an apurrtmint wif a shitzu named Bella. Mom iz gonna calls da ladee latur dis week n see how Harlee iz doin. Hur iz gonna gets a noo name fur dis witness purrtekshun misshun.

Den da uther 4 wents sleepy til dehr misshun peeplez came.

Olivia and Munch purrtnurd on an undercover mission to investigatez a house wifs an oranje gentleman cat... Since dey is undercover, dehr names will be diffurnt. Da peeplez dat iz handlin dat case will email us a repurt and promised dat dis iz an inside mission.

Elliot and Bella wents on a diffurnt assignment to helps a teen age gurl named Sarah dat is takin fotograf n actin classes. Dey willz be keepin dehr names n Sarah iz gonna sindz fotohs uv dem.... Sarah's Mom fell in luf wif Elliot and Sarah likes Bella lots so dats iz goods!

Sarah came by wif hur brother rite after Harlee left. Sara waz gonna jus pik up Bella fur dat misshun, but wanted two kittens (she liked Munch). She hads to talk to her Mom Bean furst bout takin any kittenz fur a missun at all. After Sarah left, Ellie fell in luvs wif Bella and givved hur a bath...den Munch and Olivia gotted pikked afore Sarah came bak wif hur Mom. So we wz furry glad whn Sarah's Mom let Ellie n Bella both goh on da same misshun!!

Mom iz worried bout Mousie... dats our old gurl. Hurz bin hidin. dat always meens hur not feelin good. Hur iz 15 yrs old and she needs a vets visit - dehr is no money to take her.

Friday da Eagle seds dis abt KSHS: "We have all these cats in our care and we are just not seeing them adopted out," said Jennifer Campbell, communications director at the Kansas Humane Society ...shelter takes in 1,000 felines a month...past few months...numbers have nearly doubled...The campus has 75 adults and 247 kittens.

"It's August and we're overflowing with cats and kittens," said Kim Janzen, president and CEO of the society. "Our foster families are also at capacity and caring for over 100 cats in need of special care."

Now u see why our Speshul Kitty Unit and Maxie iz stil wif us...and not ats da KSHS. U kin do da math... Dems 1,000 sumpin babies wents sumwhers...but nots to homes. Dey cant helps alla dem.

We iz preparing for the Worst Case Scenario....(and purraying for as best as can be... when ya don't prepare, things get even worse.) This is furry badz... as Katie Too wood say.

My grandparent's old house, the house I am "living" in, is not up to city housing code. My mother is responsible for the house. They sent her a note last month detailing all we need to do to fix it...
Somehow the letter got mixed in with unimportant mail and junk. She found it about two weeks ago... The news was too much for her to deal with at the time... very long list. We haven't called city inspection yet about an extension and the "deadline" is the 6th. Since Mom's brain tumour surgery, she has trouble with numbers. She thought it was the 8th. Still doesn't give a lot of time. And since my husband's legal incident, I have very few options of friends who have carpentry and finish work experience.

I did try a possible avenue to help us work on the house - that fell through. I will try calling tomorrow for an extension - they will make us take down the electrical line going from Mom's house to my grandparent's...(It's construction grade in wall type stuff.... still not code to wire one house with another) Which means no electricity at all - no a/c. The house is old Victorian and two story. Stays fairly cool. I will have to sort out opening windows. They may even placard the house and the babies and I will have to move out quickly before they do so!! (I purray fur a better case than that!)

There is another piece of property in my deceased stepfather's name. Needs a work, but not as much as my grandparent's house. Still not in livable condition inside until someone seals all the wood from a flood of water damage several years ago. (and I mean a flood) I can stay on someone's couch, even downstairs in Mom's house... but lots of things have to go!!! I don't mind that...

Bottom line is... no place for the babies to go...

Until that wood is sealed...no telling right now when that will be. I may know a self employed remodeler who can do the work, but no idea how we can pay him. And then no telling yet how good his work is or if sealing will take care of the musty problem and make the house livable.

The Special Kitty Unit (Elliott, Olivia, Munch, Harlee and Bella) and Maxie should be able to find homes through the Kansas Humane Society. Right now they are waiving the adult adoption fee... Max loves kittens and other cats... he's a big fat boy who loves kisses, playing track ball and needs to lose weight! I will be taking them to KHS either tomorrow or Friday.

Daisy is laid back and easy going and willing to do stuffoms, which is why she would do so well in a comedy film that has been postponed until further notice. I could find her another home... I love her sweet gentleness... If I have to, I can relinquish her to KHS. But if I keep her, KSH will spay her for thirty dollars when I relinquish her kittens... who turned 10 weeks old yesterday.

The Kansas Humane Society's current goal is that all "adoptable" animals will not be euthanized... a goal they would like to reach in five years. They have a new facility and lots more space... with puppy rooms, doggy rooms and kitty rooms -an amazing accomplishment so far!!!

That leaves what they mean by adoptable and how far are they willing to go to find homes for animals that are just hyper or old or just need a little more attention? And what are they going to do with "adoptable" animals in the next five years? What are the odds that some cat is going to be put to sleep?

If the kittens are not adopted out... I can redeem them for 85.00 a piece and look for homes for them myself???

When I relinquish them, I'm going to ask everyone in the blogosphere to call the KS Humane Society that we all are rooting for the Special Kitty Unit!
My three other cats may need the help of all the cat blogosphere to find a place to live.

I have to find Mouse a "retirement home" the KS Humane society isn't making a place for such babies (that I'm aware of) - Mouse is 16, old, no teeth, needs lots of brushing, a piddle pad, cuz she physically can't stand still while plooping... and she purrs alot when loved... she growls at other babies (doesn't mean much... just likes being left alone in a corner)

I will drive halfway to anyone willing to take her in...

Katie Too and Bootsie may need an emergency home until things get better. I would be willing to meet anyone half way who can look after them. I will send money for their care... until I can bring them back home.

  A bit of Katie / Bootsie Background: Katie Too and Bootsie are partially feral - not the best socialized.

Little Bootsie had a horrible trauma as the smallest kitten in a salvage yard. A big tom tried to kill her. Left a wound in her shoulder. Thank God I was able to discover that and get it drained. She lets me pick her up, but doesn't like cuddling. She growls but doesn't meen it. Just shy and scared of being attacked again. When relaxed, she likes her tummy rubbed. She still needs to be spayed. I think she is healthy enough now for her operation.

As a kitten, Katie Too just walked into a friend's house like she was on a mission to find her place in the world... My friend didn't keep her in the house most of the time until a few days before I came to pick her up and then they were keeping her in the bathroom. Their kids had made her quite hyper...and swatted her nose for being "bad." I had a long time helping Katie learn that banshee hissy fits were not acceptable. She loves to sit in laps of people she knows now, but she has her own purrsonality... and will go into a long vocal chirpy tirade of how things aren't right!

She hates carriers, but puts up with them now... oh you should have seen her as a six month old tearing the living daylights out of a cloth carrier when I took her to the basement during a tornado warning. God, she is so smart. She used to love taking things apart. She could tell that things opened, came apart or didn't belong somewhere. She took the drain grid out the bathtub and carried it to the foyer to play with!

Happee purthdae Kitty Babiez! On Monday Mom and our Bruther Frind Mike took Elliot, Olivia, Munch, Harlee and Bella on a trip to PetSmart!!! Mom lined a shoppin cart (trolley) wif cardbord and den put dehr carrier in dat. Onse inside dat Pets Mart Plase, hur tooks da top off. Dem babiez sats in da carrier and wundered about da world!!

And dey waz petted and awwed ovfur by lots of nise peeples. Evfurry one did purrtee good on dehr furst adventure... (Goin to da vets wif me whn Mom thot I had mastitis was a furst in da carrier.)

Dey was a bit skerd and cold at furst. (cold cuz high A/C in PetSmart).
Olivia had da most skerdiez... Elliott waz a shy boy.
Bella was da bestest baby.
Munch and Harlee wanted to climb over da cardbord and outta da cart!!

Short update cuz mom is tired frum trying ta put up An Auction Blog dat took all nite. Blog entry kept saving in the wrong size font!! We gotted movies fur sale! We gotted sum uver stuffoms like t-shirts and bean babies too and will post dat next.

Now we gots dis short scary update insted (still a mirakul we fink)

Yesserday dem babies turned 7 weeks!!! Mom covered her bedroom floor wif cardbord cuz noobiez iz messy...

Last FridayNite - Daisy gave Mom a bit of a scare!!

Da Babies iz eatin foods and not nursin soh much and Daisy tired of dem fighting over hur!! So she not nursed dem much on Friday...

In the night - Hur gotted "impacted" Mom was afraid hur had mastitis. Mom stayed up frum 4 in da morning waiting fur a vet ta open at 8:00 cuz da emergency vet wanted 100.00 dollars just fur a nite visit! Mom Took Daisy and da babies to a good place called Wingert Animal Hospital on Saturday to check Daisy fur Mastitis... Guess what? NOH FEVUR!!!

But hur has lip ulcers from a food allergy. Da vet wants ta wait about steriods until after da babies iz all weaned...  Mom switched Daisy from Kitten Chow back to what we all iz eating - Authority Brand Sensitive Formula to see if that helps...Since dem babies mite haves an allergy - dey is eatin dat too.

Any way da vet said to put a warm wet towel on her tummy for about 3-5 minutes twice a day... and hur is better! Mom is going ta takes her back just ta make sure hur is progressin okay.

- Please purr dat she not have any more complications frum weaning deze 7 week old Babies.

Ya knoh what dem babies did?

Mom put Daisy in one carrier and da babies in da othur. Dey mewed all the way to the vet and wanted out!!! As soon as dey waz inside the building... all five got furry quiet and went ta sleep!! I think that say something for this little clinic! Maybe I goh dehr... Dey is good people!

Dem vets peeple loved Daisy's Special Kitten Unit... Elliott, Olivia, Munch, Harlee and Bella!

One client wif hims doggie had a good chuckle when him hurd dehr names!!

Mom may let the Kansas Humane Society find dem homes and spay Daisy fur 30.00. Da babies must be at leest 2lbs - cuz they will get operations and id chips and shots. Mom is gonna make sure that KHS is now a no kill shelter like they promised with their new building.

Ifns ya gots time ta reed - Dis here is an email we sent to da kind folks who donated 65.00 greenies to our Vet Fund... We finks datz mirakulz iz bin happining...

Well furst our Mom wanted ta takes Daisy and dem babiez in rites after bein born Ever bodiez seemd ta be doin okayz n stuffoms - n Mom hadz allus babies and our grandmommy to look aftur...and hur waz furry tired out...soh we purred and purred...

(Miracle 1) Mom watched over Daisy givin hur lots of vitamins and glucosamin stuffs.. Fings seemed purrtee good and da babiez waz growin!!

(Miracle 2) Til da 4 week old purrthday... Den Daisy started meowin lots and puttin hur babiez on da bed when Mom was goned... Dat wooden four poster bedframe waz too high!! Too times a baby slipped off da bed... Da furst time Elliott slipped off and was caught by da side railing and den da nex times Bella had slipped offa da foot ov da bed. Both times dem littel babiez waznt hurt!!

Soh Friday afore last (June 26), Mom and our brother frind Mike tooks da bed down and putted da box spring/mattress on da floor... and dey fixed a big area for da babies ifns dey climbed outta dehr big boxie...and fur dem ta playz in latur. (da babies waz in a carrier while dis movin took place. Daisy laid next to the carrier) Den Saturday mornin (June 27), Daisy woods not eat or drink water.... Mom sorted out hur waz exhausted n had gottn dehydrated frum da heat... Mom chekked her water bowl - smelled like a fish bowl...(and she had cleened it?) Mom was also worried dat hur mite hafs mastitis... mom called da vets ta gets an appointmnt afore dey closed.

(Miracle 3) Mom forced sum water in Daisy's mouth and Daisy licked her lips and ate a bowlful uf 9LIves Tuna Stinky Goodness. Soh Mom canseled dat appointment. Mom gave hur a diffurnt water bowl and givd her lots of foodies and attenshun. She recovered! Mom called da vet on Monday fur a chek up andywayz, but Dey wanted almohs 200 green fings ta see Mom and da 5 babiez!! Not da 65 greenies dat Mom had thot...

(Fanks fur sendin dat!) Dem Babiez is littel and dey gonna charge 33.50 for each + 48.00 fur Mom?

(Miracle 4) Soh Mom iz playin nurse at homes wif Daisy and weanin dem babiez n stuffoms hurself... No fevers and all da babiez is doin grate!! Even Elliott and Bella are gettin over dehr fear of fallin.

More mirakul stuffoms? On dem Babiez fifth week purrthdee (July 2), Mom went wif our grandmommy to da peeple clinic cuz grandmom had ta gets hur ouchie test - (Mammogram)

When Mom gotz home agin ta cheks on Daisy n da babiez... dat daffy (good) Daisy had taken all dem babies outta dehr box and back inta closet wher dey waz borned!

Her wanted dem ta be safe in da closet where hur coods count dem. (yes, hur counts dem...out loud wif a meow fur each baby) Now dis closet is old fashioned and haz a short ledge dat dem babies climb over and outta closet ta gets to da big area dat Mom barricade off fur dem!

Soh dis is Momz question... she tole us dat ya haveta be careful wif money ya ask fur or it iz called fraud... No Bootsie, Mom didnot say frog... a l c i r n 4 0 h j r y 0 8 / fk g" % 3

Bootsie!! stop rollin around on da keybord! I iz tryin ta type! MOM!!!

Here is Mom's question. Hur wanted ta knoh wif all deze miracles goin on - we asked da kind folks dat sented 65.00 if we kin use dis for "general living wif cats expenses," since Daisy and da Babiez need extra foodies and we still gots ta post up signs ta help dem kitties finds furever homes?

Daisy's Kittens Update!

This is the Mom. I promise to finish the Squillion raffle and publically announce all the winners as soon as I get the kitchen table ready for hat pouncing! Katie Too and Maxie will have the honors.

I just had to tell this Wordiful Mewz!! Daisy and Babies are past the first critical 24 hours! Kittens are calm, very healthy and made their first normal growth spurt! Amazing how newly born babies within 24 hrs are all fluffy fat little tummies! Course their sweet eyes won't open for a while...

Daisy told me Tuesday morning to stay with her all day!?! She wanted me right there to help with the labor...She has been isolated in my bedroom along with little bitty Bootsie to keep big ol Maxie from bothering them for the past month. (Just like a typical boy -- has to chase the girls for fun.) I slept in the recliner Monday night. Tuesday morning, Daisy cried at the door and I just knew. So I cuddled with her on the bed all morning til the contractions came close together early afternoon.

Long time since I helped with birthing. When Daisy started to cry with her first baby (Olivia), I instinctively took the pressure off - gently with my fingertip, Olivia's head made it thru. The second baby (Bella) came out back end first - and is the largest kitten. The largest part of the head stuck. Daisy cried and I reduced the pressure again - Bella came through! The other three birthed just fine... After photos and a video of them nursing, I helped transfer Daisy and kittens to a big cardboard box in my closet!

Daddy was a neighbor's cat. "Wolfie" is small boned, long haired black tabby and a "Wolverine" face. Four of the kittens will be smaller like him and are shades of light to medium grey and may have long hair. Bella has Daisy's long waist and brown tabbiness with a bit of copper on her face. Seems there are 2 boys, 3 girls. My photo and video equipment is old tech. Will post photos when developed, hopefully next week. I need to copy the video to DVD for uploading. Except for Bella, named for the movie abt a waitress unexpectantly pregnant, I picked names from Law And Order: SVU - Olivia (Mariska Hargitay), Harlee (Richard Belzer's wife), Elliott (Chris Meloni) and Munch (Richard Belzer). I will be contacting two local no kill orgs to help me with forever homes.

My main concern now: during labor, the birth canal did not stretch at first and there may have been some tearing with the first two kittens. She's not running any fever and I am giving her extra vitamins, Kitten Chow and glucosamine.

I want to have Indian Hills Vet check Mom and babies though - the appointment runs about $65.00.

I'm also worried about Bootsie. She slept on the edge of the bed and didn't bother Daisy and I until all the kittens were born. Then I had to put her out of the bedroom, because she started growling...

Funny thing, later out in the living room - she found a fuzzy white mouse and started carryin it around like it was her kitten! So in her own little way, she figured it out.

Yet, Bootsie won't hardly eat anything except Temptations and she's been all wound up hormonally for days. Normally a very small cat, just under five pounds. Big Maxie who is a chubby 15 pounds keeps chasing her...
(I am looking into a forever home for him. He is so quiet, sweet and fiesty playful...just too much of a handful!)

Bootsie needs to be checked out before being spayed to make sure she hasn't lost too much weight first.

Reezon I knoh what happnd? I purrtended ta be sleepy on da corner ov da bed while Daisy gave burth and Mommy helped.

Dehr is five babies... four iz grey tabbiez n one is blackish tabbie wif sum orange. Dehr wood have bin six, but sumpin happened dat we dont knoh cuz da furst sac had nuffin in it. After dat, Daisy had trubble havin da furst two kittiez. Mahm had ta help hur sum. Hur cried sum when dehr head was cummin out, and Mom is worried bout dat.

Da rest uv da babies cummed out reel easily...Da furst baby waz borned after 1pm and da last baby cummed out at bout 3:50pm... I got shooed out of da room after I growled...oops.

Mom say she gotted fotohs and a little video after dat.
