Quick Eye Update

 Thanks and purrz go out to everyone who has commented and am praying for me.

A quick update asking to keep me in prayer.


Can't look at the screen very long with my right eye ..makes me nauseous.
So will be a while before can visit lots of blogs so sending purrz of thanks from here.
 

need prayer to keep all the germies away and complications and stuff that can happen after surgery.

Got a horrible headache and nausea.. can't think past it right now. 

Haven't eaten much, but drinking water...

washing my hands and using my eye drops.

all i did today was read a book and sleep....lol
can't lift the catfood bag... so just spilled it on the floor.

tried to work on posters to help find my foster kitties new homes... screen making me nauseous.
Princess the Petite Persian still needs a furrever home, plus seven more young cats...

hopefully will fix the flat screen later so I'm looking down at it.

Surgery Successful Eye now Healing

Hiya folks and furry friends!

Thank you so much for all your purrs and prayers.

Sunday morning surgery went very well...  

(the first thing I remember after waking up was hearing a discussion about intubating me due to snoring.) Don't remember the intubation, but still have a sore throat and sore abdominal muscles...  My eye was covered up with lots of bandages and a metal plate.

Had trouble sleeping Sunday night. Kept waking up... had to sleep on my side or on my stomach to keep the gas bubble in my eye next to the retina.  Is my eye sore!  (had an Rx for pain..)

Monday morning, went into the specialist's office to have bandage removed and get meds for my eye.  Have to wash out my eye several times a day and use three different eye drops.  The atropine (eye dilator) is only once a day in the morning.  The antibiotic and steroid are four times a day!!

While at the office, the doctor checked my eye and let me know that there was no macular problems and the retina looked firmly re attached.

So far just seeing light and shadows until the gas dissipates, which takes about two weeks. Looking forward to each day to 'see' how well my eye recovers.

What timing for this to happen!  Not only did my retina detach on my wedding anniversary IAug 23), My mother is having abdominal surgery next week to repair a prolapsed bladder.  Please pray for both of us.  I'm the only support Mom has...(she had a brain tumor removed several years ago).

Eye Update

Saturday Evening Update:
Called the Optometrist office that I saw before and got his emergency line.
Referred to optometrist on call and had to travel outside city limits to her office, but was worth it.  (Mom drove)

Very competent and she checked my eye and could see a definite retinal detachment.  Referred to Retinal specialist in town... Saw him at 9:15pm.  Seems that I have lattice degeneration in both eyes, a condition more common with nearsightedness and makes the retina more vulnerable to detaching.

Will be having surgery in the morning to repair the retina...  Reporting to the hospital at 7am.  Specialist is the best in town, so in good hands.


Possible Procedure: vitrectomy and a sclera buckle.

Vitrectomy - removes the vitreous fluid that has pulled away and will be replaced.  According to my research, there are several things that are used to replace the vitreous fluid including gas, saline or silicon gel.  Will know more about that tomorrow.

Scleral buckle. This treatment for retinal detachment involves surgically placing a silicone band (buckle) around the eye to hold the retina in place. This band is not visible and remains permanently attached. Thermal treatment may then be necessary to close the tear. This procedure is effective as high as 95% of the time. (WebMD)

Mom needs purrz for Left Eye

The vitreous fluid detached from the back of my eye about two weeks ago... (when I was going to start posting again.)  Went to Immediate care last week with Via Christi Hospital... they sent me to Optometrist: retina was still detached according to the optometrist. 

But now a "floater," possibly a "Weiss Ring" is at the back of my eye clouding 3/4th of my vision.  Went to ER at 3am.  Doctor acted incompetent... asked me the patient, what the medical term "posterior vitreous detachment" meant.  He even told me he knew very little about eyes and there was "no ophthalmologist on call."  He did not refer me to an Ophthalmologist, but merely wrote it in the dismissal paperwork as a "suggested recommendation."

Have appointment with a charity clinic I normally use, hoping they can refer me so can afford to go... but appointment not till Tuesday and then who knows how long b4 seeing an ophthalmologist.  could get referral from optometrist, but already looking at huge bill from immediate care, optometrist and visit to ER...(no job = no insurance.)

Dis why da Mom am shy bout dat....
see hur hadz a cancer scare long before we waz borned. Da doctor did an autopsy on da wart and waz precancerous. Soh dey used sumpin to kill all da skin round dis bad wart and it hurt a lot. Dey put silver in the area and it not come bak.

Sumtimes tumors can be as deadly as cancer.

Our daddy purson had a tumor in his kidney dat burst and him was furry sick back in 1996. Dat waz a mirackle him survived. And him also had a tumor on him brain when he was furry young - bout two years old.

Da Nana hads a brain tumor removed about ten years ago - now hur haz aphasia and severe hyperacusis, which keep her from going to normal places likes churches and walmarts.

Aphasia is literally an impairment of language ability, which can range from having difficulty remembering words to being completely unable to speak, read, or write. Sometimes most of ability is recovered thru physical therapy.  "Nana" couldn't even speak right after surgery.

Hyperacusis is defined as a collapsed tolerance to normal environmental sounds. This can be caused by inflammation of the ear drum or dysfunction in the brain itself. A dysfunction of processing sound in the brain can even cause someone to fall while hearing a loud noise, which happens to "Nana." Both of these disorders can result from brain surgery. The "daddy purson" (my hubby) also has a milder form of aphasia and hyperacusis. Both "Nana" the "Daddy Purson" have have actually gone into a state of shock from certain loud noises. }

In Mom's fambly three other peeplez hadz tumors, two in der brains and one haz a tumor behind da eyez.  Da fambly dat hads brain tumors did not survive likes our Nana did.

Oh Hai, this video is "Love Me Like You Used To" from rathergood.com.
Some of their stuff is out in cheeky land humour, but the animation on this one is truly amazing. The scenery is like New York and the raincoat kitty is like Detective Lennie Briscoe from Law & Order.

A lonely, divorced half Jewish detective who hid his sensitive, caring nature with wise cracks and a bottle of alcohol, Briscoe became one of the longest running characters in producer Dick Wolf's universe until the actor, Jerry Orbach passed on in December 2005 from prostate cancer.

Early 2006, Orbach received the Screen Actor's Guild Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Jerry's loving and faithful wife of umpteen years accepted for him. In my humble opinion, the name of this wise-cracking, cheeky, jazz singing kitty longing for a faithful woman must be Lennie.

The kitty sings really fast, hard to pick up all the PG-ish lyrics, yet sounds just like the jazz blues Lennie Briscoe would sing over a woman he really cared for who turned out to be unfaithful. Yet when I saw Lennie the kitty with tears in his eyes, I could only think of how much my husband is horribly missing me.

He is at Norton Correctional Facility - sentenced for taking an Alford Plea (innocent, but can't prove it). Doesn't matter why (see the story of Joseph in Genesis). His health is poor, one kidney lost from cancer ten years ago and a slow growing cyst on the other one. At least Norton is low security and the outdoor campus is rather large. In good weather, he can walk outside and feel the wind on his face and hear the birds chirping. A lot of Christian bands play outdoor concerts for the inmates and there are a lot of bible studies to keep him in faith...hopefully I can travel up there to see him soon.

My husband was supporting my parents and me. Please purr fur us. My mother and I are barely hanging on financially. (Her mortgage company just sent her payment back, because it wasn't the entire amount) Right before this all happened, I was getting ready to go back to school for more training so he could retire and I go to work. Now I need to be the provider, yet don't have the training in computer programming or CATIA (drafting software). I am teaching myself with what I can find using the library and the internet right now.

October 3, went to a really cool Bible parade in Humboldt, KS, which is always on the first Saturday in October. Got some photos and spoke to a 12 year old young man named Jacob who had just rescued a five month old kitten. - sweet tabby and white male named Lucky who just loved his new daddy! Sitting curled up in his lap with his eyes half closed, smiling and quietly purring. Hope to show a photo of Jacob, Lucky and Jacob's brother David as soon as the film is developed!

Daisy Takes Bella on a Trip

My babiez iz grohwin fast! Dey jus had dehr 3 week purthday last Toosday!

Toosday mornin, I took Bella (dats my tortie baby gurl) on a trip to see da big Mommy sleepin on da bed...where hur waz borned.

I put Bella between da Mommyz legs so Bella waz safe frum fallin. Bella crawled on Mommyz toes and woked hur up!

Mommy felt fur da kitty baby. Hur turned on da lite and said I knoh dat waz Bella! Silly Daisy. Kittenz gohz in Boxies... (i knew dat... I luvs Mommy n Bella too!)

Soh Mommy put Bella in da Boxie and den I luved and fed all mai 5 Babiez...

My training worked! When Bella woked up frum her nap, hur looked up at Mommy and knew hoo dat iz!! Hur lifted hur head (wobbly) and mewed at da big mommy!

Lady operations can be furry painful. Mine sure was! I was in pain fur two days and our vet kept me in hopsital wif yucky meds and pain stuffoms. I was just miserable!

And ifns you read bout what happined when Maxie gotted nootered at da loh cost place... him was in pain fur two dayz!! (Maxwell Tigger's Surgery) Noh pain meds! We waz furry mads bout dat! Soh Mom waz savin hur green fings. She coodnt let Daisy n Bootsie be hurted.

But dat sneaky Daisy gotted out whiles Mom waz sleepin...Our back door comed open even tho it was locked. And dat Daisy opened da screen door! (Da back door is fixed now and hur am grounded to da bedroom fur ever!)

Now mom wont spay hur til deze babiez iz borned cuz she cant stand doin dat... she seen too many kittens hurted. Our brothers went over da bridge frum havin too many burthdayz... and she was holding our Boo Bear when him passed on...See, after u haz helded a nooborn kitten in ur handz and bottle fed it cuz da mommy iz dying frum pneumonia (dat was Boo Bearz mommy) and himz siblings wer sick n goh over da Rainbow Bridge... yah just gotta fink uf da babeez...(our mommie iz notz a killer and our biggest rescue plase is a kill sheltur)

Last time Mama saw da big sandy boy was about a week ago. Him was nappin on our porch swing. Him was hurted and took off slowly when Mom felt hims hips. He hasn't cum bak. Pleze pur fur him.

Mama finks Ize gots a few morh weeks ta goh. Da best part is I gets da bedroom to maiself! Well mama n I finks Bootsie kin share, but noh boyz allowed. Bootsie needs a break from Maxie, too.
