We hazn't been onda bloggie in a long time cause we hide under Uncle Mike's bed alot, likes the Trout Talkin Tabbies last Wednesday who were under da bed hiding frum da scary snake dats wants ta takes over da worlds wif dat bast turd shark.

Unless the Mom gets chicken or turkey out of Uncle Mike's magic cold box where good foods come from... (fridge) den we comes running to the kitchen!
 
If you all gets to sees us on Facebook, then you knows that on Furry Friday, me, dats Lulu and Annie May went on a long 2 hour and half trip to Manhattan, Kansas to gets our lady oppurayshuns at the Kansas State Mobile Vet Unit and another 4 hours back cause the car tooks mom onda wrong highways twice!!!

We are furry goods getting over our surgeries and long trip.
We slept most of the time there and back.

Here am selfies dat Mom helped us with after our surgeries, just before we started on our way back to Wichita. We was sleepy still so didn't looks up.

We are now recooper rating under the bed and getting yummies to eat. We haven't found any monsters or snakes yet, just dust bunniez.

Now fur a furry short other mewz update. 

Debra was able to get half the bill to start cremation fur her sweetie. We helped some with that... now to make payments on the rest which is about 80 dollars. 













Silvia's girls, Natasha and Mama Narcisca saw the vet but he didn't do bloodwork yet. He suggested that they might have fatty liver syndrome and to eat one meal a day and wait for them to feel like eating... Silvia tried this but didn't help.

They still don't have appetites and throwing up when they do eat. (FLS requires blood work to confirm the lack of not doing blood work is very confusing.)

The Most Decorated Cat in Military History

During World War I, the British army employed nearly 500,000 of the felines to fend off unwanted critters on land and at sea; nearly every World War II vessel had at least one aboard at all times. Yet Simon stood out for his outstanding valor. His efforts for Britain’s Royal Navy during World War II -- first surviving a brutal attack that killed his caretaker, then proceeding to annihilate rats and raise the morale of his crew -- made him a national hero and earned him the prestigious Dickin Medal. He is the only cat to ever receive the award.

In the Spring of 1948, while walking along a busy naval shipyard on Stonecutter’s Island in Hong Kong, British seaman George Hickinbottom spotted a tiny, “undernourished and feeble” cat making his way across the docks.  Seaman smuggled him onto the ship and he soon became ship's cat, getting rid of rats and boosting morale with his antics like leaving dead rats in the seaman's bed and sleeping in the Captain's hat. 

Then On April 20, 1949 during an attack from the People's Liberation Army, Simon was injured with shrapnel. After the attack, while the men were being attended to medics, Simon slunk away into the deep of the ship to heal. Missing for several days, the crew thought Simon had died, only to have him emerge looking for food and water. A medic tried to patch him up the best he could, yet Simon insisted on taking out the shrapnel himself and wanted to get back to work as soon as possible as the Ship's cat. Furry Lates selfie and other stuffs that am happening with Katiez Katz and Friends... and how you can be a Hero today.

Furst ofs all... Our Sunday Selfies am furry lates: a mew selfie from Mitchel and Bobby, hanging out with Mom Liz... Sent yesfurday. Katie Mom and Uncle Mike worked furry hard trying to helps us kitties and friends by cleaning two good stoves to sell at a friend's flea market booth. They got them delivered to the flea market just before closing, so they will be up fur sale next week. (And den Uncle Mike and Katie Mom waz furry busy this morning feeding us kitties and trying to sell another stove too, but the stove was one inch too big)

Furry Good mewz: KFM did a memorial for Natasha, one of Silvia's cats over a month ago - there was a miscommunication: Natasha is still with us!! 

Yet Natasha still needs our help. She and her Mom Narcisca have anxiety after storms or rain and won't eat right until it's over. Yet they haven't been eating right since last rain and now need to see vet due to diarrhea and throwing up what little food they are eating. 

Both need to see vet who wants to take x-rays and blood work before treating their chronic condition again. One of them has had blood work already, yet still need blood work on Natasha and x-rays on both. If anyone could even help a little bit toward their vet visit would be greatly appreciated... Debra sells plants at the same flea market that we haz the stoves fur sale. She lost her kitty to FIP this past week.  We helped her get him into see a vet who gave him a B12 shot. Just made him feel better for a few days, yet gave time for Debra and her sweet Baby Gabie (rhymes with baby) to say goodbye. She is selling her plants to pay for his urn ($172). So far there is only 25.00.

Last Caturday Art and Purrz for the Mew Year

Auntie Silvia and her fur family, including Guero and Natasha want to wish you a Happy Mew Year...

Silvia and her kitties have been in the cold for almost a whole week with the heater in the motel room not working. Three cats have been sick because of the cold... sniffing, runny eyes, won't eat. Natasha has been wheezing.  Been 30 degrees in their room.

Today a heater was found -  Money had to be borrowed - hundred dollars...

Please pray this heater keeps everyone warm, that the sick kitties get better and that Katie Mom and Auntie Silvia can get the outdoor kitties, Chica and Chico caught so they can be warm too. We are purring to pay back money owed asap and that there will be enough funds for vet visits in the Mew Year...next week.

Saturday Free Vet Clinic Day Selfies

Check In: Silvia with Mama Cat and Four kids

The all day SCART event took place on Saturday, March 11 at Wichita's Interfaith Ministries with a makeshift clinic set up in their basement.

SCART in cooperation with Inter-Faith Ministries hosted the bi-annual pet wellness clinic event, which also function as practice drills for animal response volunteers while offering free pet wellness exams, vaccinations and city license information for pets whose owners are experiencing or have recently experienced homelessness or poverty.  

Exams were provided by Skaer Veterinary Clinic and services were free of charge.  Information about no cost spay and neuter options was also available. The event was limited to dogs and cats. Proof of low income was required, by appointment only set up several months ago.


Cold day yesterday. Mostly dog owners came to event. The outdoor receiving and registration area was cordoned off to help keep loose doggies from running away.  All the tables were covered by canopies.

Silvia's four kids are seven years old. Mama Cat is about eight.

After filling out paperwork for each kitty, carriers were tagged to correspond with each kitty's paperwork. Then Silvia, a volunteer and I carried the carriers over to a covered semi-circle waiting area of chairs covered by a large canopy before going in the building.

The Cat exam room was actually the women's restroom.  

Natasha was first to be seen. She watched Mama Silvia a lot to know what to do. She was very good and wasn't scared. Every kitty had their teeth checked, bladder and abdomen checked, overall health. Then received distemper and rabies shots, and topicals for deworming and fleas. 

Guero, who had been having diarrhea problems this last week, was thankfully well enough now to get his vaccinations. Dr. Christen Skaer checked both Guero and Gordo's surgeries. Gordo PU surgery, only a few weeks ago, was healing well. (PU = perineal urethrostomy).

Sometimes Mama Narcisca gets a brown discharge. Silvia asked Dr. Skaer about that and she suggested that Mama be checked for crystal problems in her urine since two of her boys had to have PU surgery for crystal blockage. 
 
Two of the flea products they had on hand were Frontline or Cheristin. Had not heard of Cheristin before. (Cheristin FAQs) Cheristin is apparently safer for young cats and kittens. (FAQ page states, "Low-volume dose is effective for all cats 1.8 pounds or greater")

After examinations, Kitties were checked out at the "Reclaim" Table. Silvia was told by Dr. Skaer and SCART that if any kitty seemed to be having a reaction, take to ER to be checked and treated and treatment would be paid for.  Every kitty received paperwork and a rabies tag in an envelope.
 
Review of the event: 
One little dog got loose and happily ran around excited. The volunteers were calm and easily helped the little dachshund return to his Mama.

Two of the topicals were placed too low below the cat's collars. When Silvia got her kitties home, they started trying to groom each other and began gagging and drooling. If the topicals had been put just above the collar line, would have been harder for the siblings to get it in their mouths during mutual grooming.

Natasha did not take to all the vaccinations and topicals as well as Mom and her littermates. She curled up in a ball and refused to eat. She also staggered to the litterbox. We took her to the ER for a checkup. At ER, Silvia was told that only the checkup would be covered and not any treatment if needed. After some discussion (heated), Natasha's treatment was also covered (Benedryl shot).

In Conclusion: Event went well and very organized. Plenty of volunteers who were professional and calm - very good with animals. However I will be contacting SCART to find out why ER said that treatment was not covered, only the exam if needed.

Brother Gordo came home yesfurday!!!
So far Gordo is eating well and even gained weight while at the vets. He almost knows where to stand in the litter box. Auntie Katie gotted Mom Silvia puppy pads, Feliway refill and let Gordo borrow a kennel cage to rest in. He hated the cone at first and fought it like the Tiger he is and made a pee mess on the blankies on the bed - calmer today. 

Me and my brothers and Mama Narcisca think he smells funny - Ronnie bit Mom Silvia's toe last night cause him mad that Gordo smells funny. I can't wait til Brother Gordo doesn't smell funny no mores. Then I can loves on him.

Guero Home and Hating Cone

Well remember last post we said the bill was $600?? Well yesfurday Mom Silvia and Auntie Katie founded out when they went to pick up Gordo - the bill was $660!!! Mouses!!! 

At the time yesfurday, we had paid $380 from funds raised and donations. Yet then Auntie Katie and Mom had to figure out how to pay $280 vs $220. Because of our kind loving friends and family, and appliances and junk metal fur recycling (and 40.00 from credit card - Katie Kat), we managed to haz enoughs to pay dat $660.00. But we still had to use funds fur our rent dat am due on Tuesday. 

So far, we has $30 toward our rent and needs $120.00 more. Uncle Mike and Auntie Katie am picking up more appliances and stuffs but we gonna needs a hundred at least to just keep Gordo and us cats and Mom Silvia to has roof over our heads... and then there am special diet food that Gordo needs...

And all us kitties may be changing our diet from Purina Naturals to another kitty foods... Two of my brothers had yucky surgery to now go like girls cause of foods and water not being right ph balance. And Ronnie gotted UTI once too and him not get sicks usually. 

Thank you fur all your purrz and helps fur us kitties... Thank you fur helping our Mom Silvia look after us and has a better lifes. We loves you soo much!

Natasha am not likes vet visits and shots too much... she am furry thankful though to breathe betters. Been several months since she needed a shot and that am goods.
 
Katie Mom am thankful that we has donations of big metal things to take to recyclers to raise money for us kitties. 

Every little bit helps - lots of work to put in truck - us cats are glad we don't have to do the lifting!! If any of our paw friends all around the country could ask their humans to finds metal stuffs and take to recyclers fur us - that would be pawsome! If you sends us the moneys fur dat, we will also send 10 percent to a local no-kill/life care sanctuary, Hickory Hollow Ranch.  The Mom wants to partner with them to make life better for kitties and doggies and other animals in need. Prayers are needed. Silvia is trying to look after her cats and find work - her car needs worked on - my brother is helping. She's not getting much sleep. She is depressed and exhausted - tired of doing the right thing only to be accused of hurting her cats on purpose and told to stop asking for help for them? 

Yesterday was not a good day. Hard to keep believing that life is sacred when there are so many obstacles.

My funds are tied up in January with changing house insurance yesterday. (Double down payment, previous companies payment will still go through and then be refunded later.) and KFM only has 9.00 in the bank.

Thank you for your prayers and if you are on Facebook, please send Silvia loving messages instead. She needs them right now to know there are people who truly care...

We are trying to find a foster home for this kitty girl so I can trap her and get her spayed. She has short legs and looks like a big Munchkin - just like her Mom... Hickory Hollow doesn't have room right now.
