Thankful Kitty Haz Furever Home Fur Chrissymouse!

Hiya, Angel the Fetch Kitty helping Katie Mom with the Mewz today.  Katie am still getting over the yuckies, so her can't talk much...

Sweet Baby
Yesfurday Katie Mom wrote about catching a kitty at Silvia's motel. Silvia calls him Squirly or Raccoony.  Well Mom and Auntie Silvia was able to gets him in a dog kennel (big enough to put him completely in and shut the gate fast) with a handle last night. Katie tooks him back to her house and him stayed in the kennel and at his yummies. He didn't complain much, just meowed that him was annoyed, but he didn't fight the kennel.
What a sweet boy!

At midnight, Katie Mom tooks him to where him furever Daddy works. He had a van so the kennel fit in the back seat furry snugly. Then him went home to Winfield, Kansas to meet hims furever Mommy.

Here's what hims furever Mommy wrote:

Quiet Boy

He seems to be a friendly guy, and let us love on him last night. We didn't get to bed until around 3:30.....

Ricky in Mew Home
Hims mew Mommy sent us a photo!

How I gets to parking lot? Katie thinks me hidded in a moving rumbly warm metal thing with wheels and when dat stopped... ouch! my whiskers!  I ranned out and not know where me waz.  Me finks beens in dat bush fur likes evers! hungry and cold and all bony. Me only weighs abouts one and a quarter pounds. What happened to Mommy Cat??? Me cried and cried fur her...she nebers come.  Uncle Mikes and Katie Lady saw me and wanted to helps, but me scared...I hid in bushes. Den me hears a Mommy mew sounds... Me come to edge of bush and stared at Katie Lady. Me mewed, cause her calling likes Mommy Cat did.

You nots Mommy! Me not lets her touch meze... Me ranned back under bushes and found yummy stuff (Friskies) and gobbled dats up! Uncle Mike was onda other side of the bush and he gotted me in dis blankie when I ated.  Ize already beens on Facebooks cause dats all Katie cans do on dat fing her holded.  (mobile phone... tried to blog from mobile and got an error message this morning: the browser you are using is not supported... Windows browser!?! mol.)

Well me was soo hungries dats I ated too much (Friskies) and couldn't tell difference Katie's fingers and foods... I nipped. -Purrz from Little Pearl Electra.
 ---------
In other Mewz, Mitchel doing really well and had is furry bestest poo today.  He is still taking antibiotics, but he is well enough to travel to his forever home tomorrow...

Only thing - need someone to watch over Pearl and she needs to be seen by a vet asap.  I don't want her to stay alone, because I hear clicking when she purrs... Need to make sure she doesn't have a collapsing trachea, which would mean she could fall asleep and stop breathing.

Her upset tummy is keeping her from eating. She did not have any fleas, amazing! She started her purr motor the minute that Mike caught her in the blanket.

Providence brought Mike and I to that Walgreens... I had found a completed throwaway Walgreens camera from ages ago. Been carrying it around for weeks. Something told me to take care of that camera right now! We had planned on stopping by a different Walgreens to find out if they still developed film, but that particular store was in a power outage.  Wound up going to the one where we found little Pearl.  Then of all miracles, the rain waited until she was safely in the car, where upon the sky poured so hard, the depression in the bushes where she was staying would have filled up with water...

Please pray we find a way to get her to the vets and someone to look after her or of all miracles, someone to take her forevers before tomorrow afternoon. Otherwise, may have to postpone taking Mitchel to his forever home.

Purrz, Katie Kat

I Iz Not A Throw Away Kitty

Hello, My name am Carson,
I was left to die in a cardboard box,
but thankfully someone found me and helped me get to Operation Paw.

The Lady that blogs here saw my photo and just had to tell about me...

Here am my story from
http://operationpaw.com/7/post/2014/06/not-a-throw-away-kitty.html
Me am so thankful to be rescued.

You can also read the story below.  If you can, please share.  That will help me get funds to be well and loved.
Purrz,  Carson.
When will there be no more 'throw-away kitties'?
When will it be widely accepted that all life has value, and that the first instinct should be to help, not to ignore, walk away, or worse... throw away?

This kitten was found taped in a tiny box with a few token holes punched in the side.  Left with no food or water, baking in the hot sun of an open parking lot on a Miami summer day.  The sea of asphalt around him must have heated the box to an unimaginable level as he crouched inside, unable to even stand up in his tiny prison.

Waiting... hoping for rescue.

He was brought to us in this condition--covered in crusty mange and his own filth, unable to fully open his eyes due to the severe skin condition.  For the same reason, he cannot eat solid food because he is unable to fully open his mouth.  To touch him, his skin feels stony and solid--thick crusts cover his body, creating a horrific armor.  If left untreated for much longer, he would not have survived.  His eyes would have crusted shut permanently, he would have been unable to open his mouth normally, and he would have succumbed to infection and starvation.
Luckily, he ended up with us (Operation Paw)

We named him Carson.  (For those of you who remember the tv show 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy', you may be familiar with Carson Kressley--we named him Carson in the hope that he will have a dramatic transformation to perfect health, just like the transformations on the program!)

Our medical officer is working with him daily, syringe-feeding him special high-calorie wet food mixed with probiotics and vitamins.  He is being treated for the mange and the secondary infections in his skin.  Carson is not a pretty sight, but we are trying to make him as comfortable as possible while his body battles its way back to health.  He is held and cuddled daily, and we look forward to the day when we can stroke and pet him without gloves.

We hope he will fully recover in time--he is an affectionate little fellow and he is going to be a gorgeous kitty--we can't wait to see his eyes fully open, to be able to tell what color they are.  To see him clean and beautiful, healthy and whole.

It's going to be a long road, and will involve a lot of time and care, but it is certainly worth the effort.

Because NO kitty is a throw-away kitty!

=^..^= =^..^= =^..^=
How awful to put this sweetheart in a box, when a rescue organization is available!!
How I wish there was something like Operation Paw in Kansas.

Carson's story is one of thousands that Operation Paw takes care of on a daily basis.  These kitties are a daily part of their rescue work.

If you would like to donate toward the care and medical treatment of Carson, and many others like him, please click on the link below.  No amount is too small, and they are grateful for each and every person who opens their hearts to help their rescued kitties!

Angel Purrz 4 A Refuge and Joey's Nike Mark

(Sorry so lates... Furry Friends plz email the Mom and her give update fast dat way... Sumtimez wif all us kitties to looks after her gets tired and goes sleepy...  Purrz, Lil Joey)

Taken on August 1st after Angel had at least one dose of antibiotics...
just before getting a bowl of watered down chicken broth.

Dearest Furry Friends and Forever Momz n Dadz,

Wonderful thing about The Vet Visit on August 1st -- Dr. Brooks called in an antibiotic for Angel to my pharmacy! He prescribed Amoxicillin, which is the main ingredient in Clavamox, the common antibiotic used for dogs and cats. Amoxicillin is on the discount meds list - only 4.00!

She gets her antibiotics mixed in with a bowl of canned kitten food twice a day. Dr. Brooks also said that he would see if he could find someone who could give Angel and her kittens a refuge. LAPP is too full and the Friends of Felines secretary has not called me back.

The main challenge right now is that I have no place for her to stay - other than in the kennel cage on the porch.  Yesterday morning, it rained again which helped some with the temp, but still got to 93 around 5:00 pm with a heat index of 103. Thankfully it didn't last long and the cage has a reflective tarp to ward off the heat.  She has a stoneware bowl full of cold water (with ice in the afternoon) and a big bowl of Kitten Chow / Iams mix all the time.  Also giving her extra fluids - home-cooked natural chicken broth with bits of chicken and fat.  Around two this morning (more rain!) she got canned "replacement milk," good for moms too.

But I'm fighting flies and mosquitoes to keep away from her food and the kittens.  Got some fly traps to keep the flies away.  Have one of those candle lights to help with the mosquitoes, but this kennel cage refuge can only be temporary. She has to be moved to a safer environment.

Will be calling Dr. Brooks this morning to find out if he has found anyone and how desperate Angel's situation really is.  I don't believe in coincidences, but do know from experience that God guides his creatures.  There had to be a reason Angel gave birth where we could find her.

On a less urgent note:

Joey's mark on his back looks more like the Nike logo than the letter 'J.'

 Very interesting.... ???

Thanks for all the purrz for Angel
and all the Katz here at KFM.

Katie Kat.

Angel Mommy Update

A wonderful Vet is coming to see Angel and her kittens.  He will be here in around an hour.  His name is Dr. John Brooks.  He used to have a no kill animal sanctuary called Meadowbrook until he had a stroke in 2011.  Dr. Brooks is the vet that took Daisy May Daffodil when she was too stressed out and she needed a calmer environment

Now Dr. Brooks does Veterinarian house calls.

More update furry soon.

URGENT POST Another Mother Cat Had Kittens

Among the kitties who stop to eat from the outdoor food bowl on my brother's porch, a white pregnant cat started visiting about a week ago.  She was soo large, I was sure she had at least six kitties and would soon give birth.  Last time I saw her was around Monday...  so hoped she had gone somewhere to have her kittens and we'd see her soon.  Hoping she had gone next door at the empty garage where Yubi had her kittens (Joey, Lulu, Pattie and Laura).

Well it's been raining and raining here in Kansas for about a week now.

The rains finally let up enough to mow the lawn.
Yesterday evening, Brother goes outside to get the yard ready....lifts up old couch overturned near garage (needs chopped up for the trash service to take it away....),

Mother cat, now known as Angel and seven new born kittens were under there, lying in the grass.  They had to have been born sometime yesterday...

She took off across the street and waited to see what we were going to do.

My brother came running into the house to get me...And we proceeded to take the kittens, put them in a clean carrier - no door, then put the carrier in the big kennel cage and we put the cage in the same spot we found the kittens.  I tied a rope to the door to the kennel... put some food in the cage and waited.... Eventually she went into the cage and I closed the door.

I called two animal care taking orgs in town, Friends of Felines and LAPP.  FOF hasn't called me back, but did get a hold of  Pat at Life Line Animal Placement.

Even though LAPP already has tons of kittens in foster homes around the city, Pat said she would help find someone who can take them if Friends of Felines doesn't get back to me.  In the meantime, Angel and her kittens are in the kennel on the front porch with a tarp to reflect the sun off the cage.

Angel and her kittens now wait for someone from LAPP or Friends of Felines to take them.   Unfortunately, she has lost two kittens... One seemed to be barely hanging on when we found them... the other was struggling to survive with fluid in its lungs...  (see photo below. The two who went over the Rainbow Bridge are in front part of the carrier.)

Angel appears to have a possible upper respiratory infection going on.  Her eyes look red and swollen. (Possibly from the couch which had become moldy from all the rain.)

I put some penicillin in her food.  Hopefully that will help... No idea how healthy the other five kittens are.. but they do seem to have very powerful lungs.  Of the 5 surviving kittens, at least 3 are mostly white and one black.

Will keep everyone posted on this new situation.

My brother's neighborhood desperately needs a TNR campaign.  Been speaking to a neighbor who is looking after another mother cat and kittens. According to him, there is another neighbor who actually brought a bunch of male cats into the neighborhood, put flea collars on them and let them loose... haven't substantiated the story yet, but I have seen several "feral" cats with flea collars, including my four rescued kitten's long-haired orange dad.

Hopefully LAPP or FOF can take Angel and her kittens sometime today.  If anyone can donate any money at all, I will give it to whoever takes Angel and her kittens.  I have 25.00 in the kitty emergency fund that was graciously sent via Paypal back when Joey may have needed his hip x-rayed.  Will add that to whatever else comes in.  Thank you for helping Angel.

Longer Letter Later.
Katie Kat.

Updates on Lulu and Kittenz

Look at who am opening her right eye!!!

Thank you for all your purrs and special thanks
to Karen Alcorn who kindly sent some funds to help with the kittens' vet visits.

So thankful that Lulu won't lose her eye. This photo was taken at the vets on Saturday.
She still shies away from bright light and there is a white spot in her cornea where the ulcer is healing.  All the kittens are still having runny noses so Dr. Johnson prescribed more clavamox for the next two weeks.  They will have another check up on Saturday the 13th.

Also Doobie Davey is getting nuetered on Thursday.  Hoping that will help calm his tummy.  Doobie and Lil Joe were playing Sunday evening... So funny.  Doobs rarely does anything save sleep and ask for catnip.  He has no idea what toys are for.

At first, Doobie just watched Joey run all over the living room. Then when Joey jumped at his Uncle Doobie, Doobs just looked at me like he thought Joey was crazy.  So I said, "Doobie, Joey just wants to play, honey.  Remember what play is?  Did you play with your sister?"  Doobie got this "oh!" look on his face and started playing tag with Joey!  And he was really gentle too.  Too bad I didn't get a photo... well maybe next time.

Saturday's vet visit cost $70.12
The two visits before cost $185.46 for a total of 255.58

The emergency Vet visit for Joey was 153.00 (via care credit card)
So far the kittens vet expenses have come to 408.58.  (This isn't counting food and litter and stuffs like that...)

Karen Alcorn graciously sent 25.00 to my paypal account - rec'd 23.72 with a note that said, "With love from Tasha, Buddy and Angel Gypsy (with Mum Karen) @ http:\\kazpluscats.blogspot.com"  In Gypsy's memory, will be drawing this photo of him:

After the donation, had $24.38 in my PayPal account.  $24.00 of the donation was applied to the kittens vet bill, while the .38 cents went toward the donation made for Marigold's auction. (Item # 39)  Sweet Marigold's mom can be found at http://hevensentmecat.blogspot.com/

Doobs neutering will only be $30.00 due to a low cost clinic.  He will also get his rabies and kitty "flu" shots which costs $10.00.  The shots will be paid for by an org called RETAIN which helps with pets getting spayed and nuetered.  Usually RETAIN pays the whole bill, but they are strapped for funds and can only pay the shots.

And More vet visits to come for the kittens.  They all still need FIV/FLV testing, de-worming, kitten booster shots and spayed/neutered.

Just an FYI...  since Dr. Johnson isn't able to accept Care Credit, the 255.58 came out of funds budgeted for buying a new cell phone to keep in contact with my disabled Mom (my current one is dead... thanks Samsung for selling a defective phone) and property taxes for my house, which were due two months ago.

I'm looking into setting up an account at http://www.youcaring.com/ which doesn't charge for receiving funds.  If anyone has info about the site, please let me know.  In the meantime, the Paypal "donation" link still works...Any bit for the foster kits would help so much...

Purrz of thanks from all kittenz and katz,
Katie Kat.
