MEW MEW KITTENS BORN

UPDATE 5:30am April 7: Kitten Number Four born this morning smaller...hour and half ago checked On Mew Mew and Four was by her tail still wet and Mom had to do some more licking... -Katie Kat.

Monday Night between 8 and 11pm, Mew Mew had 3 kittens in my "adopted" brother Mikes bathroom. Possibly another on the way...

She looked like she starting labor yesterday morning... so when I usually check on kitties at other houses, I stayed at Mike's instead. But no sign of the kittens... Then late yesterday afternoon, I went to check on her and found the kitty bed had been tossed out of the box and somehow the towel that had been on the bed was now laid flat in the box... Have no idea how this little girl accomplished that! Looking very soon...

I had to bring my mother dinner. I prayed over Mew Mew's tummy and talked to the little souls there... I've been feeling that she was going to have at least 3 and one would have some white.

Later last night, while at my Mom's, Mike had come home from bible study and found Mew Mew had given birth to Kitten One already... Well before I could leave, Kitten Two was born, but Mike said that she had some trouble.  I rushed out of Mom's and off to Walmart to get some Kitten Milk in case we needed it.

By the time I got there, Kitten Three was being born, but the placenta was stuck inside and poor kitty was hanging...  I dimmed the lights and shooed Mike to bed so he could get up for work by 5AM. I watched her for a bit... and then left her alone while posting an update on Facebook. Sometimes a momma kitty needs to relax...

When I went back in, Kitten Three's cord was cut and placenta was gone... Good Mew Mew!  Such a good Mommy... but Kitten Two was crying, looking for a place to suckle. So I offered Mew Mew some milk replacement and she drank quite a bit.  Then Kitten Two calmed down and found a nipple... Whew...

So far so good. Kitten One and Kitten Three seem to be all black. Kitten Two has a white spot on it's forehead, white around the eyes and a little white stripe on its chest.
Please keep Mew Mew and her sweeties in your purrz.

Opt to Adopt!!!
Mew Mew's Kittens will need forever homes in just a few months.

Before then, they may need another foster home to stay in.

Also, just found out that dear Maddie from Strange Ranger has passed on... beautiful sweetie. Please stop by and share your prayers.

Thankful Thursday Kittens and Stuff

Joey relaxing hours after he spent the morning limping on his hind leg. Since I only heard a blood curdling yell and no other noises, wish Lil Joe could tell me if he fell and banged his hip or just got the worst leg cramp in kitty history.

He sure scared the heck out of me!!! I was crying and so worried that something horribly awful had happened. After I updated how Joey had started walking and jumping around, I love Fuzzy Tales comment, "We're sure this is a huge relief--take a deep breathe...in...out...in...out. LOL."

That night he had a growth spurt which might point to muscle cramps and growing pains. According to some websites, cats can have leg cramps just like us people. Anyone know a kitty that has had muscle cramps?
Joey does have the longest legs and is very long waisted.
So is his sister Lulu.

Lulu was the only one who relaxed on the scale. All her siblings wanted back down!

Annie was 3.03 and Sweet Little Laurie at only 2.13. (playing with boxes yesterday in the living room)
Everyone gained a little weight since Saturday before last and all four were doing great with no upper respiratory symptoms until last night. Now Joey's having some yuckies in his nose again. Good thing Dr. Johnson gave me a second box of Clavamox (two Saturdays ago). This box isn't mixed up yet so it will be fresh. In spite of this slight set back in Joey's URI recovery, will be concentrating on finding these four kitties furever Mommies. There are several very good Vet clinics;to send flyers to - hopefully this week.

And Doobie is doing really well after his neutering... his digestive system has calmed down too. Now a week later, he is having normal bowel movements for the first time!!! I am so thankful that I can finally concentrate on finding Doobs his very own forever home too.

Doobs watching the kittens play the day before his surgery.

Here he is resting last Thursday evening, after his surgery.

The vet's assistant at Spay and Neuter of Kansas thought Doob's name should be Hoss! Well he actually lost a pound after the surgery, but he might have gained it back. I still think of him as Davey the Brave, big goofy sweetheart...he loves watching the kittens and wants to play too.

Vet Visit Update Ulcer in Lulu's Eye

Vet Appointment went really well.

Went to see Dr. Johnson... He had moved from Indian Hills to his own private practice.  Dr. J has been our family vet for decades and has healed and saved the lives of many of our kitties...  He treated my parent's kitty who had FIV.  Because of his diligent care, "Kitty" lived to be 20 years old.

All the kittens were weighed, temperatures taken, eyes, ears and throats checked.  Three weigh over 2 pounds. Little Laura the long-haired girl still weighs under 2 pounds.

Lil Joe had a tiny scar on his right cornea where a possible ulcer had healed.  Otherwise his eyes and lungs were doing very well.

Laura sneezed a few times, but otherwise her lungs and eyes looked great.

Annie seemed in the best health and weighs more than Lil Joe!

Lulu's eye may have a small ulcer on her cornea.  Dr. Johnson changed her eye meds from tobramycin to erythromyacin.  Her lungs, ears and throat looked good.  She will go back to the vet on Wednesday to see if her eye has improved.  Will take Sister Annie to keep Lulu company.

Please purr that her eye heals and that she doesn't lose her eye... So far she seems to be able to see and the swelling in her inner eyelid was less today and the damage to her eye does not appear to be bad enough for her to lose it.

More good news is that I didn't have to pay today.  Mainly because Dr. Johnson is not taking Care Credit cards at this time and that was all I had to pay with.  I will pay on Wednesday.

The total bill for today's visit and Wednesday's will be a little over $125.00.

Wonderful Wednesday Kittenz in the Bathroom

Looks like "The Mom" has her hands full again!  These babies are Doobie's nieces and nephews....Doobie had a sibling that was too fraidy to learn to be an indoor kitty, a black kitty that I called Hubie.  Been feeding Hubie outside since last August, back when Doobie and Hubie showed up... Well I hadn't seen Hubie in several weeks.  Then two weeks ago, Hubie showed up on the patio next door and just casually laid down... Next thing, several kittens wandered over and laid down too.  Uh oh.... Hubie wasn't Doobie's brother!  Hubie was Doobie's sister!  so  Hubie is now Yubi.
And I knew who the Daddy was too.  There's a long-haired orange tabby that comes to eat on the patio almost every night that I nicknamed George.  He has a flea collar that's too tight on him and he acts abandonned... (Georgie Porgie ran away...) No pics of him at the moment.

Yubi outside by the patio.  The kittens were sick with upper respiratory infections, but are doing much better now after taking antibiotics and eye meds, except for the little girl (behind the toilet in the first pic) whose right eyelids are still swollen.

"The Mom" made some videos, but Youtube won't accept them... even though the file type is on their acceptable list.

Caught Lil Joe first and took him to the emergency Vet on the 9th.  He was easy to catch by hand, since his eyes were so matted and he liked the sound of my voice. Here he is at the vets.

Here he is looking so much better after a week of antibiotics... Since The Mom couldn't catch his sisters easily, she put the meds in their food and set up a large kennel crate for them to eat in.  Once they got used to that crate, she was able to catch the two calicos on the 11th (more details later).  Then Friends of Felines loaned her a kitty trap and caught the tortie last Friday the 14th.  Once all the girls were caught, brought them into the house.  Joe was so happy to see his sisters!  Before she brought the girls in, Joe was hyper and climbing all over the Mom and loudly mewing in her face all the time and helping type on the keyboard, but that's my job!

After The Mom caught the girl kittens... two of the shyest sitting in a box in a crate on the patio. Notice the swollen eye.

Now in the bathroom... the little girl in the middle is the same kitten in the pic above.  Her am the biggest kitten too!. Her eye is still swollen though, but not as bad now that she is getting eye meds.  Mom is furry worried bout her though and will be taking her to the vet soon if the swelling doesn't go down.  The one on the right is the long haired calico girl pictured in the box above.  And then the Tortie girl in the back.

The Girls need names!!!  Anybody gots ideas???

More Info tomorrow!

Today is "the Mom's" Mother's birthday!  Other words, It's our human Nana's birthday!  So The Mom is off to have the evening with our Nana.
