Hi everyone - Only need 60.00 for tomorrow's rent. That's just 3 x 20.00 and we're good til next week!  Silvia went to work house cleaning today and will be cleaning more this week. 

Hopefully she will get paid at the week end and the money will pay for next week's rent, as long as Guero stays well. Guero is doing good on the Hills C/D - and he loves it. 
Taking his pain meds okay, although it's making him sleepy, yet he's relieving himself without a problem and doesn't feel like he has to go all the time. Went to PetSmart and got some more C/D- 1.99 a can x 10. He needs it for rest of the week to dissolve the crystals and then he will be eating Sheba. 
Can't afford more C/D or another canned food. He needs to stay on canned and drink lots of water.  Still need to pay 223.00 on the credit card - or won't be able to pay any more vet visits this month.

Little Bear Furry Mewzday Update

Hey ya peeplez...

I ates alot today!  Whoopee!

Well Ize bin furry sicks since last Thursday when my tummy just not likes nuffin!  and all my foods cumz outs.

Well i trieds to be a good boy n eats stuffoms on Furryday buts my tummy not feel so good... but i waz a goods boy and thursty soo i dranks lots of water and ate a little bits of foods...buts i hads runny stuffs for going potty and den on Caturday i throwed ups agin but nuffin waz dere.

Da mom tooks me to see a nise man,
buts i no likes care rides as you can see here...




When we gits to da nise man's place (Dr. Johnson of Willowbend Animal Clinic), dere waz lots of noises cuz peeples was on da vet roofs poundin hammers... why dey do dat? dat noisy stuffs...  Mom, n Uncle Mikes n da nise man n me waz in dis room.  Mom gots my weight and I hads lost sum (2.97 at 10 weeks...)  but da nise man tried to looks at me and check my tummy and puts a weird thing in my rump... while all dis dum pound pound pound on da roofs!

So da nise man said lets all go outside!  yay!!! so back in da carrier i go... dis time i not mind too much cause i wants away from alla noise.  Well mom sits me in da car while da nise man talks to her bouts sumpin called deworming and metro sumpin pills (metronidazole).  da next fing I knoh some lady comes outa da buidling and put yucky stuff in my mouf dat i swallowed... pooh.  what dat? yuck!  and da nise man gives mom a bottle wifs sumfings init.

Den Mom and Uncle Mike gets inda car and we go to a big place.. and I gohs sleepy onda way there.  Well Mom wakes me up when her takes me in carrier inda building and puts it ina cart wif wheels so we go shopping fur sumpin i can eats.  I finks Mom called it Pet Smart... well i finks dey am dumb cause day lets dogs run around and scarez me.  soh i not want outa da carrier.

Mom founded sum can (Simply Nourish Tuna and Potato for sensitive tummies) and opened it and it smelled purttee good so she opened da carrier door and I peeked out and drank alla broth off da tuna and Potatoes.. buts dats all.  so den weze finally gets back homes after I told Mom and Uncle Mike who drove da car to TAKES ME OUT A DIS CARRIER!!! again... Guess dat told dem.

Den Mom gave me dis yucky bits of sumpin dat waz inda bottle da nise man gave her -  awful yuckiesi!  MoooM!  what dat fur???  but Ize sooh tired dat i fell sleep...  I felt like eatin a bits again dats nites.

Din on Sunnyday, da Mom gives me dat yucky pill agin but her used sumpin called a syringe and it wen right down!  well dat not soh bads so I hops away n finds da waters and drank and drank... I ates a bit bout twice... and some of dat Tuna and potato stuffs.

Soh well ize gettin tired of dictatin to Mom whats to writes...

Monnyday Ize told Mom to stops wif all da foods fur sicks peeple and gives me back my Fancy Feast!!  Soh din I ates about three times yester day but just spoonf ful each cuz tummies gotta heal ya know...  Well da Mom gave me dat weird pill thing two times yesterday.

And dis morning I wokes Mom and yelled "IM REALLLY HUNGRY!!! WHERE MY FOODS?!?"

Mom picked me ups and we gohs to da fun eating room (bathroom btw.. so the big kitties dont take Bears food)  and I shows her how hungry I am!!
 

See I ate a lot and it waz YUMMY! My appetite am all back!

Boy waz dats a bads weekend.  Mom waz all furry worried but I fink dats between me drinking waters and da nise man and liquid stuffs (dewormer) and da weird pills (still taking those) dats Ize getten much betterz!  Ize gonna takes a nap now.

ANGEL AND KITTENS
Next sumpins am that Angel and her kittens are doing real good. And der foster mom used a natural remedy on ta little kitten with the swollen eye and dat worked purrfectly! dat kitty am all betters now!  Hallelujah!  Rezon Mom donts got new photos yet cuz da foster lady and Mom gots ta gets their schedules lined up!  The foster Mom works as a waitress and am only off a few days of the week.  Dis last week the Mom was all tired out and stuffs and dint have transport sooo her gonna try to gets together wif da foster Mom dis weeks! 

PURRZ 4 SISFUR LAURIE and SMOKEY of 40 PAWZ

Now for da fing to purr bouts... my little sister Laura has gots da sniffles - stuffed up nose and sum wheezies.  So the Mom tooks her to Dr. Johnson yesterday (Caturday) morning.  da rest of us wents too.

We all gots our weights and lungs checked ta makes sure dats only Laurie had da sniffles n stuffs. Alla da rest of us ams fines.
Lulu am doing goods, even though hur breethes faster than me n Annie when weze relaxin... Dr. Johnson said dat mite be normal fur her.  Lulu am 4 and half pounds!

Annie am doing real goods, but hur am silly and dont likes to be held... Annie am 4 and a 1/3 pounds. 

But little Laurie am just over 3 pounds!  And dats fines cuz hur just gonna be a normal sized gurl.  Hur not have no fever or dehydrated or nuffin... just sniffles and sneezies and trubble breethin.  She taking Clavamox again.  If her starts sounding better by Monday... den dats be goods and she takes all her meds for bout 2 weeks... but ifns she still sounding sniffly and wheezy, den Dr. Johnson wants to try her on a kitty allergy med.

Weze all gots to thanks da Mom at Forty Paws who made it pawsible fur Laurie to sees da vets yesterday!!  Thank you Merceda!

Her haz a great website and one of her babies needs purrz too!  Her kitty Smokey has small-cell lymphoma in his intestines. He hasn't been feeling too good for a while, and had exploratory surgery on Tuesday. His biopsies showed the cancer.

They will start him on Chlorambucil and Prednisolone and see if it will go into remission. This is very sad for them.   His brother, Obi, crossed over in May and Smokey is only 11 years old.

Pleeze pur for Smokey and let her know you am purring!  Hur gave to us and now her haz needs fur Smokey....

Dry Pet Food Recall

Procter & Gamble recall some dry pet foods due to potential salmonella contamination

Associated Press CINCINNATI– 2 hours 25 minutes ago

Consumer products maker Procter & Gamble is recalling some of its dry food for dogs and cats due to possible salmonella contamination.  No illnesses have been reported to date.
Procter & Gamble Co. said that the recalled products include certain Eukanuba foods for both puppies and adult dogs, and some Iams puppy and adult dog foods and kitten and adult cat foods. The products were made during a 10-day window at a single manufacturing site.

Salmonella can affect not only the pets that consume the tainted products, but also the owners who handle the tainted kibble. 

Pets with salmonella may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Some pets will have only a diminished appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. Owners whose pets display symptoms should contact their veterinarians. 

Salmonella symptoms in humans include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. In rare cases, there can be more serious ailments such as arterial infections, endocarditis or heart infection, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation and urinary tract symptoms. Anyone with symptoms should seek medical treatment. 

Consumers who have any of the recalled products should stop using them and throw them away. Consumers are also advised to contact Procter & Gamble at 800-208-0172 or at www.iams.com or www.eukanuba.com.

Dog Rescues Kittens

A bag of kittens were dumped out on an Iowa country road and left to die, but two kittens were rescued by an unlikely hero. The Raccoon Valley Animal Sanctuary says animal cruelty is far too common. About three months ago, they received a frantic call from a Madison County woman who pulled two kittens from a bag that her dog found in the middle of the road. Meet Skipper and Tipper, or as sanctuary volunteers call them, the "bag kittens." That's because they should have died in a Meow Mix sack.

“It was gruesome, quite gruesome because the kittens; there was a litter of 4 or 5 of them and you couldn't tell if there were 2 or 3 in the bag because they had been run over by a vehicle. It was not a pretty sight,” says Linda Blakely of the Raccoon Valley Animal Sanctuary. Tipper and Skipper were sealed into the bag, dumped on a road and crushed by oncoming traffic. It's a miracle they survived the experience. However, that's not the end of the story. Meet Reagan. He found the bag and dragged it all the way home to his owner. Reagan whined until she opened it.

“The instinct of the dog was to nurture and not kill the kittens. With all the blood some dogs would have responded to the scent. Reagan the dog is a hero,” says Blakely. Reagan's owner could hear Skipper and Tipper's faint cries from inside the bag. However, she was totally unprepared for what she found when she opened it. There were more who didn't make it.

Three months later, Skipper and Tipper look like normal, healthy kittens. All thanks to a caring loving pooch and the kindness of a few animal lovers.

Says Linda Blakely, “Our slogan here is that we’re living proof there is a way. These guys are testament to it.”

WAS Just emailed by Robin Craft that she is a volunteer with Siamese Rescue, and she has added that to the post in her comments...she asks that Siri the director not be smothered in emails!!



Her Update also tells that the two Siamese Females now have homes!

Four Boys Still need to be out by June 10 or they will be euthanized.

Yet you can let Siamese Rescue know that we are furry grateful for all they do... and please do what they can for all the Siamese babies... please support them if you can.

Siamese Kitties in Need in Georgetown, KY.
These kitties will be put down if we don't help!

From her friend Judy: “Yesterday my friend, Dana, who works at a high kill shelter in Georgetown, KY sent me these pictures of six Siamese cats who are all in need of homes. It seems that the cats belonged to a husband and wife. Recently, the husband passed away and the wife is unable to live alone. Her son and daughter-in-law have moved in with her. However, the daughter-in-law is allergic to cats. So (as happens all the time), the cats had to go. They have been surrendered to the high kill shelter in my area. Sadly, if they do not find a home, they will be put to sleep.”


Robin: “As I learn more about the cats, I will pass that information along to anyone who is interested. I do know that several (if not all) are spayed and neutered. Their ages are between one to six. I will find out about their vaccine history.”

Furr Memorial Day: Cats in Wartime

To honor our furry war heroes on Memorial Day,
here are wartime tales from

According to their website, "many of these wartime tales are short and without photos, as they date from decades ago now; information is sparse and snippets have been gleaned from many sources."

Mourka was a cat during the terrible German siege of Stalingrad (now called Volgograd) in 1942-43, who risked all his nine lives carrying messages about German positions from a group of Russian scouts back to their headquarters. He was probably well rewarded for his efforts and devotion to duty, as there was a kitchen in the HQ building.

Here is another good story: One war widow had a 10-year-old son to support and a feline companion known simply as Cat. The day came when she could no longer afford to feed Cat, who was told by her grieving mistress that she was going to have to be 'put to sleep' the following day. Cat seems to have taken in this information, for early next morning she went out and returned later with a dead wild rabbit for the pot. Thereafter, for the duration of the war, Cat's hunting skills earned her keep; three or more times a week she brought in rabbits that were often bigger than she was. She always waited patiently for her share.

Hur brother, the brown tabby did not make it. Frankie was such a sweetie, would get all frantic when being fed and scratched her eye!

"We recently purchased a 200-year old farm that has several barns and an old home. We’ve been living here since December and just last week we’ve gotten our first FOUR dropped-off cats. Or kittens really..it’s hard to say as they are starving and SO skinny. We’re out in the middle of the country so I guess people think we have the perfect place to leave their unwanted animals. Our SPCA is a no-kill shelter but is not accepting any cats at all. There are no other animal shelters here. I can barely afford to feed them and they will grow up to spray and make more cats. I already have 5 dogs, 2 cats, and chickens.

What do I do with them??"

In an article about animal writers, a pet writer ...explicitly stated that pets don’t talk, cats especially...

Beanty is a grey domestic short hair. Perhaps your cat is an orange tabby or rambunctious Scottish fold who loves boxes. When I say cats communicate quite clearly. I think you’ll agree. What’s the harm in going a step further and lending them the words they’re unable to say...We dress them in bizarre clothing, and that’s okay. There are cat capes, dresses, booties and wigs. I’m partial to cat wigs myself. Can there be anything better than a tortoiseshell cat in a hot pink wig?

Is the mix of cats and language a potentially lethal cocktail...Do they have the power to unleash a deadly new virus when trying to pronounce a long vowel? Does the scientific community know something we don’t?.... A cat says many things, least of which is, Why isn’t my box clean or Who moved this chair?

...Cat lovers are strange enough. We can’t have a bunch of people covered in cat hair, walking around recounting conversations with their cats during office potlucks...But they do talk. And if we can somehow manage to put down the cat wigs and calico dresses long enough we’d realize that they have far more intelligent things to say...

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to explain why I moved a chair.

Has this pet writer checked out animal research at all? Cats understand hundreds of words and can remember them. Their vocal chords are able to formulate the words they understand better than dogs can.

Based on the research I had found on communicating with chimps, dogs, and cats, I set out to see how much my cat I raised from three days old could understand and vocalize. As a kitten, my cat Spunky picked up more on food words, but he also knew my name. He had trouble pronouncing the “k” and the “th”, so it sounded like “atrin” versus Katherine.

My other male cats, Sandy and Baby would vocalize “hungry” “water” “want out.” In fact when it came to the word “hungry,” Sandy and Snow Baby came up with their own way to tell me they were both hungry. Sandy would say “hung” and Baby would walk around Sandy and say “ree.”

Sandy also decided on his own that “water” was actually “ehr” and that he was really saying, “want ehr.”

I found out that I was the stupid one... I had to retrain myself to see how beautifully intelligent my furry kids have been and still are.
